Are you working this holiday season?

With the holiday season approaching, the Heartland Monitor Poll finds that one in four employed Americans are required to work on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Despite this, American workers express not only satisfaction in their own work, but also pride in the role their employers play in communities.

While the United States is the only advanced economy that does not require employers to provide paid vacation time, it appears as though Americans are still pleased with their employers, but prefer to “work to live” rather than “live to work.” While many of us will be checking our work email and messages during holiday family get-togethers, which doesn’t negate that Americans really do place value on family; contrary to popular opinion, most of us like where we work.

Since it’s Thanksgiving week, let’s not forget everything we have to be thankful for, both professionally and personally.
